How to Check/View the Ubuntu version in Unity and in the Terminal

In one of the previous posts, we talked about how to check Kali Linux version using the simple terminal command. And today I will show you how to check the version of your Ubuntu operating system using terminal or in Unity.

In unity, you can see the only partial version number. So all you need to do is go to System settings > Details. And there you can see the version of Ubuntu you have installed on your computer.
But if you want to know the exact version, for example, it can be 14.04.1 LTS or 14.04.2 LTS then you need to use a method with the terminal.
First of all, you need to open a terminal, you can do that using Ctrl+Alt+T keyboard shortcut. And then type in next command.
lsb_release -a
and hit enter. And you will get the complete information about your 
Ubuntu operating system version. Look at Description line to see the version.
